Chevrolet has finally brought a baby hatch to Thai showrooms. Is it any good?

WHAT'S NEW?

When Chevrolet first entered the Thai B-segment with the Aveo, the American brand only offered a saloon body. Today, the Sonic successor also has a hatchback to choose from for the first time.

Chevrolet should hang their heads in shame - all the features that make the Sonic popular in other markets such as the 10 standard air bags and turbo 1.4 or standard 1.8 engine are absent from the Thai version. The new Sonic still has basically the same underpowered 1.4l Ecotec unit as the outgoing Aveo. If you buy one of these over a Honda Jazz you need to have a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror.

You can get a Mazda 2 Sports, the lowest priced version with auto gear box for Baht 585,000, standard equipment includes 2 airbags, whilst the Sonic only has one and it's alot more expensive. Besides that the Chevy brand gives me goosebumps.
