Seh AI: I made right decision

If the protest by the Pitak Siam group continued into the night Saturday there was a chance for a violent incident to occur and put the protesters in danger, Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit, or Seh Ai, said in defending his decision to call off the rally.

Gen Boonlert, or Seh Ai, was speaking in an interview with a news agency on Sunday morning.

He said he had heard from news reports that the protesters who were arrested yesterday had been released.

The Pitak Siam rally on saturday is similar to a poll survey. It gives an idea on extent of support to the Pitak Siam/yellow PAD/multi-colour/dems from the people. The extent of people's support to the aforesaid anti-government group is obviously "poor".

Of course he made the right choice to give up. He never should have gone as far as he did.

The entire idea of another coup was even more disastrous than it was in 2006 and the 18 times before that. Where does this perverted sense of entitlement come from where a handful of nut jobs feel they should over ride the votes and rights of millions of Thais?

Actually there is no other choice for Boonlert to choose except giving up in yesterday's violent protest. If the trouble making protestors continued to provoke the police on guard, the anti-riot sticks would be hitting without mercy on protestors' heads.

Meme #7, always the same, always wrong. It was the Chamlong sect and they were here as citizens, not monks. The international press i read admits the democratic management of the rally by the Gvt, in the international standards. Compare with what they wrote or said about the management of the crisis by the former Gvt.

The police gave the routes the protestors could take to get to the rally site well in advance. Barbed wire and barricades mean do not enter so look for another route not try to force your way through. Seh AI told everyone he wanted a peaceful rally well in advance. Obviously there were groups within the protestors who had other ideas. Seh AI had no control over those trying to break the police barriers hence he called off the rally. So from the begining it looked like the protestors were not there for a rally.

Seh Ai is a national hero and he forced the dictatorship to show their true colors attacking peaceful demonstrators and monks. Their attacks have been all over international media and now everyone in Europe and US know what kind of democracy the Puea Thaksin regime stands for. It is all downhill for them from here ...

I don't believe the Rally was a failure. It showed that a few brave people were willing to stand up against this charade of a government, which is merely the puppet of a convicted criminal too afraid to come home and face the music.
