The Stock Exchange of Thailand's main index was down 36.03 points or 2.50% to close at 1,406.18 points today. Total trading value was 130.03 billion baht with 32.34 billion shares changing hands.
The main index hit a low of 1,343.13 points, down by 99.08 points or 6.9%, when the exchange resumed its afternoon session.
The SET50 index ended at 896.30 points, down 20.84 points or 2.27%, in trade worth 87.76 billion baht.
The MAI index went down 30.75 points or 5.83% to close at 496.51 points with total transaction value of 2.86 billion baht.
Local institutions, brokers and foreign investors were net sellers of 1.22 billion baht, 3.02 billion baht and 411 million baht respectively. Retail investors were net buyers of 4.66 billion baht.
