FamilyMart has joined forces with Kerry Express to offer 24-hour parcel delivery to serve rising demand and changes in shopping behaviour under the Thailand 4.0 concept.
President Chiranun Poopat said FamilyMart will also respond to growing demand by expanding the number of stores to more than 300 this year.
The expansion project includes online shopping and financial transactions via e-payment.
Convenience stores must use all available channels and present new services to respond to the needs of customers, Ms Chiranun said.
"To provide 24-hour fresh food products, FamilyMart will highlight time management and provide customers with assured quality and convenient service to meet every moment," she said.
FamilyMart is broadening its services by allying with Kerry Express on an online parcel delivery service that offers fast delivery and prompt payment through multiple channels, including credit card, Rabbit, Alipay and 1 Card.
"The price starts at 35 baht, with staff checking the package before delivery," Ms Chiranun said.
Kerry Express hopes to provide fast and reliable delivery of packages at reasonable cost to customers at offices, schools, hospitals, condominiums and tourist attractions.
"We also believe that the delivery service for FamilyMart can help customers reduce the burden on commuting to other areas," Ms Chiranun said.
FamilyMart plans to introduce Kerry Express this year at its 350 branches in Bangkok and the vicinity.
The chain anticipates the partnership reaching all tourist areas in provinces that have FamilyMart stores by next year.
Kerry Express executive director Alex Ng said the courier is trying to expand its points of service to meet the needs of customers.
The partnership with FamilyMart was regarded as the best tool for expansion, given the chain's wide distribution.
Moreover, the brand image of FamilyMart is that of a modern and easy-to-reach store, placing it in a similar market to Kerry Express, Mr Ng said.
