Chob Yodkaew, renowned economist and revered community leader in Songkhla, has died following a stroke on Wednesday. He was 78.
Reports said Chob's body was taken by his relatives to Songkhla's Chana district, where a funeral ceremony was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
The former school headmaster was known for following and applying His Majesty the King's sufficiency economy philosophy and initiating the Contractual One Baht a Day Savings scheme, to which members of a community are committed to contribute regularly.
He also served as a member of the National Legislative Assembly.
