InMobi, an India-based mobile advertising company, is opening a representative office in Thailand.
The move is part of the company's global expansion plan, said Phalgun Raju, the regional director and general manager for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The Bangkok office will be InMobi's second in Southeast Asia, after Singapore.
Ms Raju said the Thai office will boost the company's local growth and allow it to address customer needs better.
"We aim to see strong growth in the Thai operating unit this year," she said, adding that InMobi will focus on educating the market about the effectiveness of mobile advertising.
The company plans to bring the rich-media mobile advertising experience to Thailand, said Ms Raju.
InMobi's customers included Nike, Malaysia Airlines, Mazda and Nokia.
Ms Raju said InMobi served two billion mobile ad impressions in Thailand in last year's fourth quarter, a six-fold increase year-on-year.
The local advertising impression market surged by 570% last year.
Ad impressions served on smartphones rose by 806% thanks to the increasing popularity of smartphones.
Nokia continues to lead the mobile phone market in Thailand in terms of ad impressions, although its market share dropped to 43.9% last year from 62.6% in 2010.
Samsung came in second, increasing its market share to 27.1% last year from 15.5% in 2010. Apple ranked third, rising to 13.2% from 5.5%, while BlackBerry remained No.4 with a 9.1% market share from 2.4% in 2010.
