Booking restaurants has just become easier for Thailand's food lovers now that Eztable, a Taiwan-based company, offers online table reservations.

The real-time booking app allows users to search and reserve a place or table at Eztable's partner restaurants.

"Thailand is the first country in Southeast Asia where we have established a presence," said Alex Chen, co-founder and chief executive of Eztable, which already operates in Hong Kong.

Given the number of top restaurants with a high level of international exposure as well as the proliferation of smartphone and digital devices, Thailand is a must-do market for Eztable, he said.

The company is looking at Malaysia and Indonesia in the near future.

Southeast Asia is an important market for Eztable because of its large population. The region also has many international organisations and leisure travellers. Bangkok was recently ranked by TripAdvisor as fourth among Asia's top tourist destinations.

Mr Chen said Eztable had established a representative office in Thailand and sales teams after six months of operation.

The company now has 200 partner restaurants, a number it expects to increase to 1,000 by the end of the year.

Mr Chen said up to 60% of its customers were women, with ages ranging from 25 to 40.

The Eztable platform combines restaurant search, reviews and a booking service and covers hundreds of fine dining restaurants in Bangkok.

Eztable users can make their reservation at any time, even out of business hours.

Users can search for restaurants, get their details and even read reviews from fellow diners.

Each restaurant reservation made through Eztable also rewards diners with a rebate of up to 5%.
