A new travel mobile application has been launched to help boost domestic tourism and draw more foreign visitors to Thailand.
The app, called Destination Thailand, was jointly developed by two Thai companies, Capital Television Group and Destination Thailand News, together with Singapore-based Talisman Telecom Group, one of Asia's pioneers in mobile app development.

Launched late last month, the app offers a wide range of video content and useful information about Thailand, ranging from travel experiences to tips, lifestyle, the expat life and the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (Mice) market.
Capital TV director Raine Grady said the Destination Thailand app targets foreign tourists and expats living here. "They will find out what's new regarding food, entertainment, shopping and events in Thailand through this all-in-one app," she said.
Ms Grady said people have shifted their attention from TV to online media. Video content is considered a crucial media platform as people spend at least three hours a day surfing the net, and this will rise.
Capital TV has produced over 5,000 hours of video footage of destinations in Thailand and Asia since 1995. It has one of the longest and most-watched travel and lifestyle TV series in English with Thai subtitles, Destination Thailand, that airs on True 364 Travel Channel and True 345 Travel Planet on the TrueVisions pay-TV platform, as well as YouTube.
Destination Thailand News provides timely news about tourism, travel, lifestyle, events and Mice activities on its website, www.destinationthailandnews.com. It has 87,000 subscribers worldwide and almost 2 million online views per month.
Stephen Morton, founder and chief executive of Destination Thailand News, expects the new app to top its category in eight to 12 months.
Talisman Telecom has ensured the latest communications tools are available on the app including chat, emergency calls, instant alerts and ad pop-ups.
Destination Thailand can be downloaded free on both Android and iOS mobile platforms.
