Thailand earned 627 billion baht from tourism in the third quarter, up 12% year-on-year on a 13% increase in arrivals to 8 million and a 5% growth in domestic tourist travel to 36 million trips.
Tourism and Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul said on Friday the growth met targets.
Tourism bodies were telling travellers that tourist activities in the country continued as usual, despite the people being in mourning for the loss of King Bhumibol, she said.
Tourism-related income consisted of 411 billion baht from foreign tourists, up by 15%, and 216 billion baht from Thai tourists, up 8% year-on-year.
In the third quarter there were 2.4 million Chinese tourist arrivals, up 14%. The country earned 124 billion baht from them, up by 16%.
Tourists from Europe numbered 1.2 million, rising 12% and bringing 87 billion baht into the country, up by 16%.
Arrivals from Southeast Asian nations totalled 2.2 million, growing 15%, with revenue of 68 billion baht, up by 18%.
Mrs Kobkarn predicted tourism-related revenue should rise 1.3% year-on-year in the fourth quarter to 610 billion baht - 390 billion baht from foreign tourists and 220 billion baht from Thai travellers.
That would bring total tourism-related revenue for 2016 to 2.49 trillion baht, above the target of 2.4 trillion. The minister expected 1.63 trillion baht from 32.4 million foreign tourists and 859 billion baht from Thai tourists.
