PAD and foreigners

PAD and foreigners

Postby Just-1-Voice on Mon Dec 08, 2008 8:04 pm

Ok, there are some People Against Democracy devotees in here who are stating that all foreigners be kicked out of Thailand so that Thailand can solve their own problems. Let’s take the on a trip down the Yellow Brick Road to Never, Never Land (yeah, I’m mixing stories here, but what the heck) and give them an idea of what it would be like if that were to happen.

Let’s start with the biggest, and most notable.

AUTOMOBILES - Honda – Toyota – Isuzu – Mitsubishi - GM - Ford - Chevrolet. These are all owned by, excuse me, FOREIGNERS, and if they are kicked out Thailand, they are taking their business with them. No more factories that employ THOUSANDS of Thai, so they are all out of work. Not to mention all the “satellite” companies associated with the factories themselves, such as companies that produce transmissions, door handles, mirrors, interior carpeting, windshields and side windows, etc., so all of those companies also have to shut down as well. There go the jobs for a few thousand more Thai. And, of course, all of the dealer showrooms and dealerships would also have to be shut down as well. Again, another few thousand Thai out of work.

STEEL INDUSTRY – A large portion of their sales go to the automobile manufacturers, but since there won’t be any of those left, they will have to cut back, firing even more hard working Thai.

HOTELS – 95% of them would have to shut down. Hotels are built for tourists and visiting business people. No foreign tourists, no foreign business men, no need for hotels. Thailand’s own governmental department dealing with tourism has stated that approximately 1.5 MILLION Thai who work in the tourist industry, or have tourist related jobs, will lose those jobs next year due to what PAD has done. So if you have to shut down 95% of the hotels, how many millions of Thai will THAT put out of work?

How many business that depend on tourists in Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Samoui will have to close up shop and put all their people out of work?

You can also shut down Thai Immigration, and all their thousands of workers. After all, if no one is coming in to the country, what do you need an Immigration Department for?

And, of course, there go all the McDonalds, KFC and other Non-Thailand business franchise as well. A few thousand more out of work.

With all the MILLIONS of Thai now put out of work because all the foreigners are gone, who is going to step in and help them out? Is PAD prepared to give jobs to them that pay as much as they make now, or even a job at all???

If all the foreigners left, or were forced to leave, Thailand would fall into total anarchy within a week. For a group that claims THEY are the “educated” and know what’s best for the country, why is it that we can’t get an intelligent response or comment from any of them? Why do they all spout the same rote ideology, which they can’t intelligently defend, and resort to name calling and threats towards anyone who disagrees with them. If that’s the “intelligent” group, I’d rather be with the stupid northerners any day of the week.

Ouch! You forgot to mention, souvinier shops and the makers of said souviniers, taxi drivers (with or without "meters") Tourist bus companies, tourist guides, the list goes on and on! :(
By Thai law, you (farang) can own a business here but you cannot work in it, therefore, how many more Thais would be out of work! (if all the foreigners were made to leave) Dear oh dear. :(

Yes...quite funny isn't it. But so tragically sad.

The only credible reporting so far in the last two or three months has come from the mainstream foreign press...BBC, Economist, Newsweek, Financial Times, New York Times and the IHT.

And to a source, they reveal this "crisis" as the charade it actually is. Of course, the monied elites here - who spent their chinese-thai grand-daddy's money and influence long ago are so out of ideas, that they don't care what the foreigners think anymore. It's now down to "maintain the present system -- or die trying" (sadly I guess).

A pluralistic society where the country rises for the greater good under the stewardship of a revered head of state is apparently not an option for them. How heavy a heart can the man who has received the UN's only lifetime achievement award for trying to be on the side of the poor - and get others to be inspired by his ideas - have at this moment??

And therein lies the part that baffles me - why wouldn't the middle classes and corrupt upper classes agree to pluralism, given what may happen to their wealth and health otherwise? I just don't get it..

BTW - I'd be careful about the the hollywood movie references. That's probably a banned book too..given the moral to the story. ;)

Dear everyone,

I am sorry to say this, but I think you were all duped into that topic on Bar Girl by TB. From my topic, I tried to warn you all since last evening not to respond to him. I didn’t even put my post in his topic hoping that it would be sent to the back row and just die.

I saw it coming from miles away that he/she is placed here to derail all of you from any other meaningful discussions. His ranting couldn’t be real. His English was too good for a totally ignorant person. His replies were meant to provoke anger so his posts could be kept up there. When the replies stopped coming in, he put up his reply to bring it back to the top of the forum.

If everyone just stops responding to him completely, the topic will just go away. And to all foreigners: I don’t think anybody could be that xenophobic or stupid about foreign investment or tourism. It was just a sick game.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, Unquote, you are correct of course, but without controversial inputs there would be no forum! (sorry getting serious again, Take care!)

Whilse I agree in principle to what you are suggesting, the problem is that the antagonist "wins" by default. No argument, therefore I am right QED.

Dear stilljustbrowsing,

Well, I have to disagree with you. If you don’t respond, he loses, because he only wants to cause controversy and uneasiness for all of you. His arguments can’t be real and are meant only to provoke anger.

Let me repeat here that I don’t think anybody can be that stupid, unless of course it was real. Then….. 8-)

Anyway, just forget about him completely and he'll just suffocate to death.

Alright, alright, I am a traitor, so sue me!

My first loves' name was Sue, so I forgive you! ( oops you said sue me, not me Sue, lost in translation again) I do agree with you, just find it difficult not to react sometimes.
