ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Cambodia-born, US-raised writer and visual artist Chath Piersath will showcase an installation of works which explore his interest in relationships between memories, recollections and dreams.

Chath Piersath’s ‘Four Countries’ exhibition will be on display at H Project Space beginning March 13.

On display at H Project Space from next week in the “Four Countries” exhibition will be a collection of paintings that reignite the raw, visceral appeal of expressionist art, often appearing as fragments of thoughts, observations and experiences.

The works were created during Piersath’s stays in Cambodia, Turkey, Thailand and the US.

The 44-year-old artist is interested in how one can be transformed through travel, when the rush of new experiences supersede old memories.

The nations in “Four Countries” had a particular impact on the artist in understanding his place in the world.

At the heart of the installation is a great sense of the transient or ephemeral, an acknowledgement that no matter how intense the experience, one’s physical and emotional states are always fragile and can quickly come undone. Piersath is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Lowell and divides his time between the US and Cambodia. He publishes regularly and exhibits extensively.

‘Four Countries’ will be on display at H Project Space from March 13-May 25. The gallery is located on Sathon Soi 12 and opens Wed-Mon from 10am to 6pm. Call 085-021-5508.
