This weekend, the province will collaborate with the Tourism Authority of Thailand in holding its first music festival.
Presenting more than luk thung, Suphan Buri Music Festival will feature pop, rock, indie, and even South Korean hip-hop on a grand stage with a golden dragon as a stunning backdrop. The 35m-high and 135m-long gigantic dragon houses a museum, which is one of the town's tourist attractions.
This event aims to pull more visitors in the same way that other music festivals have done to Hua Hin and Khao Yai. Besides concerts, the festival aims to appeal with street shows, food stalls offering local dishes, and balloon rides to get a view of Suphan Buri at night. Tomorrow, national artist Kwanjit Sriprajant and luk thung crooner Seree Rungsawang will be performing classic numbers while a younger generation of R-Siam singers, such as Lala-Lulu, Bai Toey and Ying-Titikarn, will be strutting their stuff with contemporary luk thung. The line-up also include popsters Film-Rattapoom, Four-Mod, Faye-Fang-Kaew, Black Jack, and Timethai, champion of Dancing With The Stars. Korean hip-hop group Airplane will also make a special appearance on Sunday night, to be followed by alternative rock band I-Nam, synth-pop band Polycat, and garage-rock band The Richman Toy, to round off the festival.
The first Suphan Buri Music Festival will be broadcast live on Modernine TV, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
