Make-up meets jewellery

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Among Yaz Bukey's eclectic accessories, a necklace with a double adjustable black shoelace, dangles five lipsticks while the matching earrings gives you two more tubes — none of which can redden lips, though.

The Paris-based brand is not there yet in making its own beauty products but a collaboration between Yaz Bukey and Shu Uemura brings a playful make-up collection, including four lipsticks, the boldest shade in Yaz Red to symbolise the sexy jewellery designer.

Bukey is also referred to as the Ottoman princess because she's a descendant of Egyptian royalty. The family's French connection began with Mehmet Ali Pasha, the King of Egypt, presenting the Concorde Obelisk to Napoleon.

Bukey's jewellery designs refrain from a regal look, and are frivolous and fun with a mix of pop references, while featuring Plexiglas as a key material.

A piece from the spring/summer 2015 collection Le C'est Ahh.. is a big necklace and its quirky arrangement of 10 Plexiglas lips speak for themselves. The edgy lips coupled with expressive eyes are carried to the packaging design of the Yaz Bukey for Shu Uemura collection.

Based on the designer's imagination, the collection's concept evolves around a foursome of friends falling in love with the same man, named Mr Shu Shu. The marketing campaign features images of the four different personalities, all of them portrayed by the talented Ottaman princess.

Shu Uemura international artistic director, Uchiide, designed the make-up looks for Sexy Yaz, Smart Lola, Romantic Betty and Daring Tina. Besides make-up and false lashes, the collection includes the brand's iconic cleansing oils in different formulas to meet the skin condition of the four female characters.

They represent a woman's individuality, which can be enhanced through make-up, whether by sporting the dreamy Betty or daring Tina styles created with the limited editions.
