NAKHON PHANOM - Police have arrested and charged a man over the transportation of 600 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, ya ice, worth at least 10 million baht on the streets.
Officers intercepted Theerawut Pahruthum's van on a road in Muang district on Sunday after a source told them that illegal drugs from neighbouring countries were being smuggled out of the area, Pol Lt Gen Kavee Supanunat, commander of the Provincial Police Region 4, said on Monday.
He said officers found 600 bars of crystal meth, weighing one kilogram each, inside the vehicle. One kilogram of the ya ice costs 10,000 baht along the border and can sell for 20,000 baht when it reaches Thailand's outer provinces, he added.
