Senator Paiboon Nititawan has denied claims by a red-shirt leader that he said the fatal confrontation between students and red-shirt supporters near Ramkhamhaeng University last weekend was planned.
"When I took the Ratchadamnoen anti-government stage, I told the crowd [about what had happened] according to the information I had got from news reports," said the appointed senator, a member of the so-called Group of 40 in the upper chamber.
Earlier Friday, United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) chairwoman Tida Thawornseth said the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and the opposition Democrat Party had distorted what actually happened near the university by blaming the death of a Ramkhamhaeng student on the government.
