Index Creative Village Plc, the country's largest event organiser, plans to expand further in Indochina to cash in on opportunities arising from strong economic growth in the region.

This year will see an emphasis on consumer events such as concerts, trade shows and marketing campaigns in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), said Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, founder and group chief executive.

Through its subsidiary ICVeX, Index has had a presence in Myanmar since 2011, and it will strengthen its operations there by focusing on lifestyle and entertainment events that target specific consumer groups.

This activity will include organising concerts, trade shows, product showcasing and marketing campaigns to stimulate consumer spending, and develop economic and human resources to strengthen business ties between Thailand and Myanmar.

Mr Kreingkrai said the CLMV countries are likely to experience continued economic growth in the first quarter of 2017, led by Myanmar.

Thailand and Myanmar have cooperated in many areas, including basic infrastructure, consumption and tourism, all of which have benefited economic development and investment.

"ICVeX now offers full-scale services to businesses in Myanmar and this year we will focus more on creating consumer experiences through a business to consumer (B2C) strategy," Mr Kreingkrai said.

The efficient event and marketing model is still preferred by many business organisations in Myanmar, therefore a series of lifestyle and entertainment events have been launched since the start of 2017, such as EDM concerts showcasing leading international and local DJs and a rock concert featuring Myanmar artists this month.

There will be more trade fairs organised by ICVeX such as Myanmar Build & Decor, Myanmar FoodBev and Myanmar Retail and Expo. More events are also in the pipeline and will be up and running soon.

ICVeX has been conducting product launches and marketing events for many local and global brands. Both the public and the private sector in Myanmar also use ICVeX's services to make public service announcements.

Mr Kreingkrai said several industries in Myanmar offer prime business opportunities to grow and advance. Trade negotiations and cooperation between Thailand and Myanmar are helping to increase entrepreneur and investor confidence.

"This will ensure our earnings in Asean in the first quarter will grow exponentially," Mr Kreingkrai said. "We are also expanding the business in other directions, such as land developments and the creation of new jobs under Index's own project to help meet market demand."
