Myanmar army gains in Kachin

YANGON - Myanmar's army has captured a key strategic outpost in an escalating conflict in northern Kachin state, rebels said on Saturday.

The report came as the Myanmar government issued a rebuke to the United States for expressing its concerns about the fighting.

Bloody unrest has continued despite a government announcement of a unilateral ceasefire earlier this month, with fighting edging closer to the rebels' headquarters in the busy town of Laiza on the Chinese border.

One country cannot have two different armies, this war between the central government and the Kachin goes on since colonial times when the British promised them like they did with Shan and Karen a independent state when they help them against the Bahmar just like the old Romans did with divide and conquer. This helps only for a few years to achieve some short term goals. The Brits are gone long time ago and the people behind today are drug gangs who use the lawless environment for drug production why there is a major drug bust every month in Thailand? The stuff comes from the Kachin / Shan area and the bosses are Chinese.
