The Corrections Department on Monday moved two suspects in the Erawan bombing case from Min Buri prison to the 11th Military Circle for 12 days of detention.
The transfer of Adem Karadag, 28, and Yusufu Mieraili, 25, came after the Justice Ministry last week authorised the 11th Military Circle to be used as a temporary remand facility to detain the suspects as the Min Buri prison in eastern Bangkok was small and crowded.
Mr Karadag and Mieraili were brought to the new facility in Bangkok's Dusit area separately in the prisoner-transport vehicles escorted by military Humvees. Security was tight at the base with soldiers seen conducting thorough checks on all vehicles entering and leaving, including recording their licence-plate numbers. Media were not allowed to enter.
Mr Karadag, also known as Bilal Mohammed, was arrested at his Pool Anant apartment in Nong Chok district on Aug 29, while Mr Mieraili was apprehended, according to the Thai military, in Sa Kaeo province on Sept 1.
