Three suspects in rape of Russian tourists arrested

Police on Wednesday arrested three suspects in the rape of two Russian tourists in Pattaya.

"Police have collected a lot of evidence against the suspects, including photographs and possessions found on them that belonged to the tourists," national police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said on Wednesday.

One suspect identified as Wichien Jaija, 35, was arrested on Tuesday after being linked to the truck used by the assailants on Dec 26 to abduct the two women in Pattaya.

my post seems to have gotten messed up somehow.

The Thai police wanted a "donation" before they'd help me with the taxi kidnap, despite my having a description of the driver, the taxi number, the location and time. Needless-to-say, they never did anything. Basically, you're on your own in Thailand if anything happens to you.

In contrast, I had help from both the London Police and Toronto Police, and in both cases, they caught the assailants within a few hours.

I've been mugged in London, near Buckingham Palance, of all places and mugged in my former hometown of Toronto on the subway on a Sunday afternoon - not what you'd expect in both cases.

I was kidnapped once by a Bangkok cabbie stoned on yaa-baa. But, managed to get away.

The difference in all these cases is that police in London and Toronto took care of me and to the "help them" (i.e. a little donation) to speed up the case. By the way, they never caught the guy despite me giving them a clear description, the taxi number, time and location.

Sometime Cars are used as a tool of various criminal offense in modern motorized society.
Our society must not give a driver's license against a wicked wrongdoer.
And must strictly reform the law for realizing a revocation of driver's license of a wicked wrongdoer who using a car for a crime. Sometime, the second offence by a rapist taxi-driver who being released from a prison in the past occured in down-town again. I can't understand why the society give them a driver's license and a taxi.
I hope to introduce a aptitude-test including a culture education test into the driver's license test for shaking off them.

Seriously everyone carries on as if Thailand were the only place in the world where Tourists are targets for crime, I have been pick-pocketed in Amsterdam and Paris, had my mobile phone stolen as well in Paris, and there was no cry from anyone that these crimes would hurt the country. Lets get real, You can't walk down the streets of many big cities or tourist locations in the world without potential risk of some crime, Thailand shouldn't be singled out, last New Year's eve in the UK the incidence of crime was as bad if not worse than in our magical Kingdom and lets not get started on Moscow or any other city in Russia for that matter.

Well all I can say is in the last few months there has been rapes, robberies and murders of tourists and to top it off 200 killed and thousands injured in road accidents over the last seven days, what more is the to say other than expect the same this year, why because no one wants to address the problems in Thailand, at the moment, the papers from around the globe are giving Thailand a bad press, and to be honest not before time maybe the will get their head out of the sand and treat not only tourists but their own people with respect before it is to late, well as if it isn't already.
