Terrified students see their driver murdered

Two men riding on a motorcycle attacked a pickup truck carrying seven students to Rueso Kindergarten school in Narathiwat's Rueso district and killed the driver in full view of the horrified students on Thursday morning, police said.

Pol Col Anothai Jindamanee, superintendent of Ruso police station, said police first received a report of the shooting about 7.30am.

Mayeeda Lameng, a 45-year-old villager who witnessed the attack, told investigators that the man riding pillion on the motorcycle opened fire at the pickup truck's driver.

I don't understand this, so many lives have been lost, so many civilians have suffered, so many children are emotionally disrupted. I recall sometime back when it was published that the police knew who the culprits were, yet the violence continues.
in terrorism there is no negotiation, there is no democracy. ask your conscience would you sacrifice 100 innocent lives to save a 1,000 or would you prefer to just let the violence and deaths continue.
I recall sometime back when there was a clean up on the drug cartels, yes many innocent lives were lost and people simply disappeared, but the problem started to dissipate.

Unless significant improvement are made for these southerner lives, one may wonder if they would soon or already given up the idea of being Thai.

Thaksin as PM famously said that he saw no reason to do anything for people who did not vote for him. Seems to be the same way today.

D13 There is no money in the South for PTP so why should they care. They are too busy talking and planning the return of Big Brother to care about the people of Thailand.
Then there will be plenty of money for everyone (well a small number anyway) and Thaksin will magically fix all the problems in 6 months.

    Chalerm getting drunk in Malaysia....
Yingluck busy trying to convince Japan to waste their money on Burma.....
Perhaps some day PTP will get around to thinking about the South, but I'm not holding my breath, they've waited this long.

Just what the heck is this government and military and police doing? Sleeping? How can they allow a kindergarten school bus driver transport kids to and from school without escort protection from the army and police forces. Their salaries are paid by tax payers so they need to act responsibly and provide the level of protection needed fully supported by the government. Both the PM and deputy PM are totally incompetent and give the impression to the world that they could care less. They are more interested in business, making money instead of dealing with these very grave and serious issues.

This is not insurgency nor people wanting their own freedoms. This is murder. The DPM goes to Malaysia for what? Unless the gov't goes after dialogue no matter how painful, loss of face. etc., this will continue. You cannot put edicts from Bangkok nor politicians, nor army generals who don't have a clue how to resolve let alone the real environment in the south. If the idea is to have a military effort, it has been tried. That is without wiping out a great deal of rubber and palm oil resources. Stop relying on big brother for direction YS. There are competent people who can effectively advise and lead. Use them, across party lines.

This sounds a lot more like the Philippines or Malaysia, is hard to believe that wonderful Thailand has fallen into this life.

The one thing that sticks out is that these so called Islamic militant/terrorist insurgents are killing their own Muslim brothers and sisters. With this in mind I almost totally agree with D#3 but I would treat it as a war and take no prisoners. Eliminate the disease and it will cease being a problem. Sorry to all the humanists and rights activists out there but some times things just can't be dealt with rationally as the perpetrators are mindless zealots from some other species.

D#7 Khun Bandrew: You are not serious about the bounty issue? This will expose Dubai man and creepy Thai police at large.
