Kamnan Poh now in prison

The Criminal Court on Wednesday afternoon sent arrested fugitive Somchai "Kamnam Poh" Khunploem to prison to serve a total term of 30 years and four months on two convictions, bringing his long run from the law to a sudden end.

Somchai was escorted to the court by armed commando police about 2.30pm. He appeared before the bench at 3.15pm for formal identification.

When he was arrested earlier today, Somchai was carrying a medical bill in the name Kim sae Tang.  He admitted to the court he and Kim were the same person.

    Somchai "Kamnam Poh" Khunploem's carrier as criminal started long before. Forty over years ago he was involved in "acquiring" gas stations in Pattaya and if one did not agree, well the worse would and did happen. Throw away the key, he must pay for his known and unknown crimes. Be careful the old Chinese Thai connections go all the way up via "Mr. Suphanburi” to the Dubai criminal.

    Believe me when I say 30 years mean 3 months for this guy. The whole of chonburi was ruled by him and his gunmen once and I am sure he still has his people and his links. If Chonburi is ever going to be clean and green he needs to dissapear forever off the streets. His name would still instill fear in locals and tourists today and tomorrow.

    does he not get extra years inside for skipping bail? jumping bail appears to be something of a national pastime - I assume it is a criminal offence, no?
