Suan Dusit scraps exit poll

Suan Dusit Poll announced Tuesday it has scrapped plans to conduct exit polling for Sunday election for Bangkok governor.

The group blamed "the current political situation" and growing competition in polling.

The upcoming gubernatorial election will be the first without a Suan Dusit Poll exit poll since it started during the 2000 city election, won by the late Samak Sundaravej.

D9 "the practice (exit polling) is widely used by pollsters hired by NGOs and monitors to verify that elections are being conducted legitimately. The U.S. government has even financed exit polls in former Soviet republics and satellites to ensure votes are counted accurately."

Exit polls help to expose any shenanigans in the official vote tallies. It seems odd that they've decided not to have one this year.

The " President " has quit his job earlier, because of the polls.

BANGKOK: -- A veteran journalist from the mass-circulation Thai Rath has resigned as president of Suan Dusit Rajabhat University Council. He said he was dissatisfied that the university allegedly conducted opinion surveys to please the government.

The latest Suan Dusit poll shows PTP ahead of the Dems by 14%.

Alternatively - polls are unreliable because UDD 'enforcers' threaten and intimidate voters on such a regular basis, that they don't feel safe answering honestly.

This is not the first gubernatorial election exit poll that Suan Dusit have done. The have been doing this exit poll for many past elections with rather convincing accuracy. That is now decide to scrap exit poll of this election due political pressure from the side or sides who are finding every excuses to blame and cover their shortcomings.

Suan Dusit Poll should have announced today they (at last) discovered the truth about the real world (waking up out of their university microcosm dreamworld), and apologized for the crap they have kept the opinion busy with. Time to learn rules from Farang polling institutes (which are still unreliable but at least hold elements of truth). A little help: 1): questions: easy to understand, unbiased and clear, 2) sampling: geo spread and size of the sample, etc...
