The State Railway of Thailand will release the bidding terms for construction of its planned 16.5-billion-baht double-track railway from Prachuap Khiri Khan to Chumphon province by the end of this month.
SRT governor Wuthichart Kalyanamitra said the state enterprise was gathering opinions on the terms of reference, and the documents would be available for purchase in July.
The cabinet has allowed the SRT to borrow 17.1 billion baht from local sources to pay for the construction and to spend 126 million baht of its regular budget on land expropriation for the 167-kilometre one-metre-gauge parallel track from Phrachuap Khiri Khan train station to Chumphon station.
The project comprises the new track on the ground, 115 railway bridges, 20 stations, four container yards, railway crossings, and vehicle underpasses and flyovers.
