Police have arrested two people on suspicion of stabbing a Big C Supercentre employee whose body was dumped in Min Buri.
Metropolitan Police Bureau acting commissioner Sanit Mahathavorn said yesterday the arrests came after investigation into the victim's disappearance. He went missing on Monday after visiting his friend's house for drinks.
He did not release any details about the suspects.
The victim was identified as Kriengsak Sitthilak, 38, a Phichit resident who worked as an assistant manager at Big C's Bang Chak petrol station in the Suwinthawong area of Min Buri district in Bangkok.
The victim's decomposed body, dressed in a Big C shirt and black pants, was found in a ditch surrounded by thick bushes on Soi Rat Uthit 54 on Friday evening.
An initial inspection found the victim sustained a deep star-shaped cut to his stomach, and knife wounds to his groin. His left ankle was also broken.
His identity could not initially be determined due to the decomposition, leading forensics officials to believe he had been dead for several days.
A mobile phone and wallet, with an ID card and a Big C employee card inside, were later retrieved from his body.
Local resident Somrit Thuammee, 39 said he found the body after following a foul smell while collecting lotuses.
Metropolitan Police Division 3 chief Chaiporn Panitattra said a family member had reported Kriengsak missing with Lam Phak Chi police on Monday.
Pol Maj Gen Chaiporn believed after Kriengsak was killed, his body was dumped in a separate place to conceal the murder, adding police were considering two possible motives: adultery or a personal conflict.
Nuanchan Sitthilak, 56, the victim's mother, said her son left his house on his motorcycle to have drinks at a friend's house on Soi Lam Sai on Suwinthawong Road in Nong Chok district on Monday evening.
Ms Nuanchan said the victim later phoned his wife about 7pm, saying he was about to leave the house and had something to tell her when he arrived home.
