Prayut, world leaders to talk strategy in Malaysia

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will today lead a delegation of ministers to attend the 1st International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Deputy government spokesman Werachon Sukondhapatipak said Gen Prayut will share his views on Thailand's development strategy with foreign leaders at the meeting, which will help boost cooperation.

The Thai delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Gen Wilas Aroonsri, secretary-general to the prime minister.

Leaders who will take part in the meeting include the Prime Minister of Fiji, the President of the Maldives, the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea and King Mswati III of Swaziland.

The topic for discussion at the meeting is "Transforming Nations through Creativity and Innovation".

The Blue Ocean Strategy was developed by W Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne who say companies should try to find "uncontested market space" rather than engage in traditional competition.

They argue companies should create new demand, industries and unique products while seeking ways to cut costs.
