People in 13 northern provinces are advised to brace for more rain, with isolated heavy falls, over the next few days, the Meteorological Department said on Tuesday.
The rain is being brought by the monsoon trough lying across Myanmar, the upper North of Thailand and Laos, in conjunction with the low pressure cell in Tonkin Bay of Vietnam,
The 13 provinces to be affected are: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Sukhothai, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun.
Meanwhile, the strong southwest monsoon is prevailing across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand.
Strong wind waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand are likely to be 2-4 metres high. All vessels are advised to proceed with caution while small boats should remain ashore until Aug 19.
