Her Majesty the Queen on Friday joined the ceremony to take the body of His Majesty the King to the Grand Palace from Siriraj Hospital.
The Queen waved her hand and smiled at the thousands of people gathered along the roads when her van passed them en route from the hospital to the Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall inside the palace.
People chanted "Love Live the Queen" and some burst into tears when they saw that Her Majesty was taking part in the motorcade.
Her Majesty has rarely been seen in public in recent years. All Thais celebrated her 84th birthday on Aug 12.
