Entertainment venues, parties, festivals and broadcasts will resume on Nov 14 with comedy shows being advised to be polite, authorities said on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said after the cabinet meeting that the schedule would be after the first 30 days of the mourning period for the late King and restrictions on entertainment venues and broadcasts would be relieved in relation to tourism and everyday life in the country.
After the first month, television channels could resume their normal programmes but some such as comedy ones should refrain from rude words, he said.
The prime minister thanked mass media for presenting the work of the late King and the pictures of countless crowds paying respects.
Col Thaksada Sangkhajan, assistant government spokeswoman, said nine categories of activities would resume on Nov 14.
She referred to national festivals including Loy Krathong (on Nov 14), Christmas and New Year, provincial festivals like Red Cross fairs and Phi Ta Khon, trade fairs at local, district and provincial levels including walking street fairs and bullfighting, folk entertainment activities such as Likay and contests, and activities at entertainment venues including night clubs and bars.
Also to be restored were parties at hotels, concerts, traditional activities including Kathin robe-giving, as well as weddings and ordination ceremonies, and all levels of sports competitions including cheer squads.
Col Thaksada also said that TV and radio broadcasts would resume as usual but programme hosts were asked to include education programmes to promote national development.
Half-mast flags would also end on Nov 14, she said.
