The government has blocked as many as 900 web addresses deemed to contain content insulting the monarchy over the past month.
The blocked sites were among 1,350 web addresses which authorities found had posted illegal content, mostly insulting the monarchy, in the month of October, said Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Juntong.
Of those blocked, 200 were closed following a Section 44 order and 700 were blocked by court orders.
Authorities are seeking court orders to block another 450 sites.
ACM Prajin said the government received assistance from internet providers to block web addresses with content insulting the monarchy.
Meanwhile, the government is contacting Facebook's Southeast Asia executives to meet in Singapore to seek cooperation in blocking inappropriate content on the social media site.
Earlier, ACM Prajin met Ann Lavin, director of public policy and government affairs at Google's Southeast Asia and Greater China office to discuss the issue.
ACM Prajin said Google had put measures in place to make it easier for the government to file complaints about YouTube posts considered offensive to the monarchy.
Google said it had Thai nationals to handle complaints around the clock.
