Ten elephants and about 200 keepers will pay respects to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej near the Grand Palace next Tuesday morning.
The government's Sanam Luang joint committee said on Thursday that the Ayutthaya Elephant Camp had informed them of the arrivals of the elephants for a 20-minute tribute outside the Grand Palace on Nov 8.
The 10 elephants are from Ayutthaya province on three 12-wheeled trucks together with 200 elephant keepers from nationwide.
They would dress the elephants at the nearby Territorial Defence Command. The pachyderms would then walk to the Grand Palace to pay respects before being transported back to Ayutthaya, the joint committee said.
The organisers already coordinated with the 1st Army, the Phra Rachawang police station and the Bangkok governor.
Thongrian Meephan, owner of the Ayutthaya Elephant Camp, said the 10 elephants had performed before the late King on several occasions including the royal visit to the historical Thung Makham Yong field in Ayutthaya on May 25, 2012.
All elephant keepers were grateful for the monarch, a champion of Thai elephant conservation, he said.
The 10 elephants would pay respect in front of the Wiset Chaisri gate of the Grand Palace at 9am next Tuesday.
