Soldiers have handed over six more suspects accused of being involved in a bomb plot in Bangkok in late October to police.
Soldiers, led by Maj Gen Wicharn Jodtaeng, chief of the National Council for Peace and Order's legal office, brought the suspects, all men aged between 19-41, to the Crime Suppression Division where they were received by Deputy national police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul.
Maj Gen Wicharn fielded complaints with the police against the six on charges of possessing explosives and colluding to run a criminal syndicate before handing them over.
Military officers may detain for questioning a suspect in a case related to security matter for seven days before handing them over to police.
Pol Gen Srivara said five of the six suspects were from the South and one a Bangkok native. Police investigators would formally press charges against the suspects.
The men were wanted on arrest warrants issued by the Criminal Court on Dec 6 as part of an expanded investigation after security officials separately apprehended the first three suspects in Ramkhamhaeng and Bang Kapi areas of Bangkok and an apartment in Samut Prakan in October. The three men were from southern provinces.
Pol Gen Srivara said the first group of suspects had allegedly confessed that 14 other people were involved in the plot and arrest warrants had been issued for all of them.
