Officials have started repairing a vehicle to be used for the Royal Cremation ceremony for King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Fine Arts Department officials and soldiers disassembled the Royal Chariot at the National Museum and moved the parts for repairs at the Traditional Arts Office in Nakhon Pathom.
"The restoration of the Royal Chariot will be completed by September," acting office chief Vijit Chaiyawichit said.
The Royal Chariot is the vehicle to carry the Royal Urn of King Bhumibol. The date for the cremation ceremony at Sanam Luang has not been set.
The Royal Chariot has been rehabilitated twice since it was built by King Rama I in 1795. It carried the royal urns of 23 members of the royal family as of 2012.
