A hotel three-wheel courtesy vehicle crashed into a group of people in Sukhumvit Soi 10 in Klong Toey district yesterday, killing a man and injuring three, including the driver.
Lumpini police were alerted to the crash in front of Baan Siri Sukhumvit Condominium at 9.30am.
Emergency services who rushed to the scene found the white vehicle, owned by the Grande Centre Point Hotel, outside the condominium's entrance with a broken front wheel.
A man, identified as Chinawat Pilachai, 45, lay dead at the scene. The injured were named as Wanchai Nokkaew, 28, the driver, Boonwichai Nasalee, 43, and Rean Yajana, 30.
Mr Wanchai told police he was taking a foreign tourist from the mouth of the soi to the hotel when he lost control of the vehicle and ran into the victims.
The driver, who sustained a chest injury, gave his statement to police before being sent to hospital.
Pol Lt Supakorn Sangklub, deputy inspector of Lumpini police, said the shock absorber on the front wheel broke before the vehicle struck Chinawat and Mr Boonwichai.
Both were Uber drivers waiting for customers.
The vehicle also struck Mr Rean, a security guard at the condominium, Pol Lt Supakorn said.
Police were in the process of reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence, he added.
