SUTHAT THANI -- Twenty-five people received minor injuries when a tour bus ran into the back of a seven-seat SUV on the Asian Highway in Phun Phin district early on Wednesday, police said.
One of the injured was an elderly Swedish man, the driver of the Chevrolet Captiva.
Pol Capt Uthairat Chuklin, a Phun Phin duty officer, said the accident occurred about 4.10am on Highway 41 in front of a rubber processing factory in tambon Tha Rong Chang. The bus, with 44 passengers on board, crashed into the rear of the Captiva.
The bus was from Bangkok, heading for Songkhla's Hat Yai district. The SUV was driven by Ulf Tor-Bjorn Windefjord, 72, a Swedish national, and was travelling from Chaiyaphum province to Phuket.
The impact caused the bus to overturn. It came to a halt on the side of the road. Twenty-four passengers were injured. Eighteen of them were admitted to Tha Rong Chang Hospital and six to Phun Phin Hospital. They sustained minor injuries.
The Swedish man sustained a cut to his head.
