The cabinet on Tuesday approved two new annual public holidays commemorating royal events, and cancelled another.
The new public holidays are:
July 28 - His Majesty the King's birthday;
Oct 13 - The passing of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX).
Colonel Taksada Sangkhachan, assistant government spokeswoman said the cabinet also resolved to scrap the Oct 9, 1957 cabinet resolution that declared Coronation Day, May 5, a public holiday.
The cabinet resolution took effect immediately, she said.
