RAYONG -- A two-seater aeroplane crash-landed in Klaeng district on Sunday morning, leaving a mechanic and a flight instructor seriously injured, police said.
Pol Lt Col Sarawut Kongsuk, a Klaeng police investigator, said the incident occurred near a small airstrip at Ban Chamrung in tambon Noen Kho.
The front section of the aircraft was badly damaged. Sayam Nimkhao, 43, a mechanic, and Lerphan Sarapaiwanich, 63, a flight training instructor, were seriously injured. They were rushed to Klaeng Hospital.
Security guards at the airstrip said the two were operating test flights following repairs to the plane. The aircraft operated normally in the first test. In the second, they said, the plane developed engine trouble and crashed while attempting to land.
