PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN - A 51-year-old man accused of attempted sexual assault of a child was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds at a workers' shelter in Bang Saphan Noi district, police said.
The deceased was identified as Pramuan Chua-cha-em, wanted on an arrest warrant on three charges including attempted sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl.
Police said the suspected gunman was the girl's father, Natthawut, 29, who had contacted his family and told them he would turn himself in soon.
Mr Natthawut recently filed a complaint against Pramuan, accusing him of sexually assaulting his daughter after she reported the alleged abuse to her teacher.
The girl was taken for a physical examination and interviewed about the alleged abuse. Pramuan, a relative of the girl's step-mother, was chief suspect because he took her to and from school, police said.
Evidence was gathered and submitted to the provincial court, which issued the warrant for his arrest.
Pramuan fled after the accusations emerged. Police said it seemed that Mr Natthawut had tracked him down.
