PHITSANULOK: The army, government officials and the people in this north-central province gathered to celebrate the country's largest flag on Thursday to mark the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the Thai national flag.
The 40-metre wide and 60-metre long flag was unfolded on the campus of Phitsanulok University in a ceremony chaired by Third Army commander Vichak Siribansop.
The 600-kilogramme flag had been carried to the site by 300 people. It will raised on the 189-metre flagpole in Chiang Rai’s Chaing Saen district in the future.
King Rama VI introduced the current tri-colour national flag in 1917.
