SURAT THANI: A fire broke out at a car showroom belonging to MG Surat Thani Company in Muang district of this southern province early on Sunday, destroying eight brand-new vehicles and causing about 50 million baht damage.
Police said seven fire engines from the Surat Thani and other municipalities were dispatched to the showroom on Highway 420 in tambon Wat Pradu on receiving the fire alert.
The fire started at about 3.40am in the showroom's left wing and rapidly engulfed the entire building.
It took firefighters more than two hours to extinguish the flames. Eight brand-new cars on the showroom floor were completely destroyed.
The cause of the fire was being investigated. Property damage was estimated to be about 55 million baht.
