Drowned Russian tourist resuscitated in Pattaya

CHON BURI: A Russian tourist was rescued and resuscitated after drowning while swimming at Pattaya beach on Friday morning.

The man, identified as Dmitri Rybin, 50, was rescued by his wife and carried unconscious from the water on to the shore opposite Soi 13/1 off Beach Road in South Pattaya about 11am.

A masseuse on the beach said the man was outside the flagged swimming zone when he began waving for help and was clearly drowning. She called for people to go and help him.

Mr Rybin's Russian wife then dragged him to the beach. He was unconscious. Several people, including a a policeman called to the scene, gave him cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

Pol Lt Worapan Kaewmorakot, a deputy traffic inspector, said he rushed to the scene after hearing a report onpolice radio.

He helped others resuscitate the tourist until an ambulance arrived and rushed him to a hospital.

He was happy to learn later that the man was saved.
