A security guard at an industrial estate in Ayutthaya's Wang Noi district yesterday found 12 packs of crystal methamphetamine, or "ice", dumped on the side of the road.
The guard said he found the drugs in a suitcase on the Want Noi-Thanyaburi elevated expressway in tambon Lamtasao in Wang Noi district yesterday morning as he was heading out to go fishing.
Pol Maj Gen Sermkid Sithichaikan, the Ayutthaya police chief, said he suspected the owners of the suitcase, containing ice worth about 30 million baht, might have dropped it from their vehicle, especially they were fleeing the law at the time.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) said Thai and Myanmar drug agencies have agreed on tighter border cooperation in the drugs fight. They met in the Myanmar capital Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. Justice Minister Paiboon Kumchaya led the Thai delegation to meet Myanmar Defence Minister Lt Gen KoKo.
