A senior officer who was purged in a recent police force reshuffle has died in unexplained circumstances.
Pol Col Akkharawut Limrat's death certificate, which showed he was pronounced dead at Phramongkutklao Hospital in Bangkok at 1.32am on Thursday, has been shared widely online.
According to the document, the officer had sustained several spinal fractures in a "fall from a high place".
Further questions have arisen following reports that Pol Col Akkharawut's family took his body to Wat Lak Si at 1.30pm on Friday, and the cremation was held just half an hour later. Normally a funeral ceremony lasts at least three days before the body is cremated.
A source at the temple yesterday confirmed that a funeral service for Pol Col Akkharawut had already taken place.
Police spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri, however, yesterday refused to comment on the case, saying only he was unaware of the officer's death.
