Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda said Tuesday that the 15-day visa-on-arrival would be available in Nong Khai province, Bung Kan, Ubon Ratchathani (at Phibun Mangsahan immigration checkpoint next to the Chong Mek pass), Loei (Tha Li immigration checkpoint), Nakhon Phanom (at the third Thai-Lao friendship bridge), Nan (Huay Kone immigration checkpoint), Songkhla (Ban Prakorb immigration checkpoint), Satun (Khuan Don checkpoint), and Narathiwat (Tak Bai and Buketa checkpoints).

Gen Anupong said that the expanded services would promote cross-border tours, boost economy in border areas and support the establishment of the Asean Community.

Visas on arrival are eligible for visitors from 19 countries: Andorra, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China, Cyprus, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The services have been available at 32 other locations. Most of them were airports and major border areas, Gen Anupong said.
