Former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra will appear before the National Legislative Assembly on Jan 22 to deliver a closing statement in her defence against an impeachment motion over the rice-pledging scheme by the National Anti-Corruption Commission, according to her lawyer Norrawit Lalaeng.
Mr Norrawit posted this message on his Twitter page "@NorrawitSocial" on Sunday after the NLA on Friday did not allow four former ministers to answer its questions on her behalf on Friday.
He doubted the criteria the NLA had based its decision on since assembly meeting regulations do not bar other persons concerned from doing so.
The team of lawyers for Ms Yingluck will meet on Monday to make a summary of the case for the former prime minister to deliver her closing defence statement on Thursday, Mr Norrawit said.
The NLA is scheduled to vote on impeachment motions against Ms Yingluck, former House speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont and former Senate speaker Nikhom Wairatpanich on Friday.
