Foreign citizens staying in Thailand are able to report their address every 90 days online via the Immigration Bureau's website, effective from April, the immigration spokesman said on Thursday.
Col Worawat Amornwiwat said the new service aimed to provide improved convenience for foreigners staying in Thailand, and prepare for regional integration under the Asean Economic Community (AEC).
Foreigners can make their 90-day report by filling in a notification form at http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibics/online/tm47/TM47Action.do or through the usual portal entry at www.immigration.go.th. The service currently requires the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. The bureau hopes to make it compatible with other popular browsers later.
Foreigners staying in Thailand on long-term visas are required to report to the Immigration Bureau every 90 days to confirm their residential address.
Until now this has usually required travelling to an imigration office to file a form, or authorising another person to do it, or filing the notification by registered post or EMS before the deadline with a stamped and addressed return envelope for the confirmation docket.
