Five people were killed and many others injured when a car collided head-on with a tour bus in Muang district of Roi Et province on Wednesday night, police said.
The accident occurred about 9.20pm when the driver of a Toyota Vios carrying five singers lost control and it rammed head-on into an Ubon Ratchathani-Bangkok coach with about ten passengers on board.
In the accident, between kilometre markers 14 and 15 on the Roi Et - Maha Sarakham Road, the car was badly damaged and burst into flames. Two men and a woman were killed and the two other female passengers were seriously injured. The singers were reportedly on the way to perform at a restaurant in the provincial capital of Roi Et.
The front of the tour bus also was damaged. The driver, a man aged about 50, was killed and most of the passengers injured. One of the injured also died later.
