Police detained more than 430 illegal street racers, known as Vanz Boys, and seized more than 200 motorcycles in Bangkok on Saturday night.
A team of police and soldiers carried out an operation to crack down on motorcycle street racers on Ratchaphruek Road, following an influx of complaints from other road users and people living in the area. The team had to close down a section fo the road and hide in dark spots and bushes until the races started.
During the crackdown, a total of 437 Vanz Boys, aged between 13 and 30 years of age, were detained and taken to Talad Plu police station for questioning and drug tests.
Their parents were called and told to pick up their children. Parents who fail to control young street racers will face penalties, police said.
