A man from Surat Thani died after jumping under the wheels of a moving train at Hua Lamphong station on Sunday.
The horrific scene occurred late in the afternoon after the Bangkok-Phitsanulok ordinary train No. 202 dropped off passengers at Platform No.3 and was leaving to another area in the station to stand by for its next trip, Daily News Online quoted Noppawong police investigator Pol Lt Aussadawut Thongsawan as saying.
Witnesses told police a man, identified later as Praden Kongkaew, 49, who was standing in the waiting area of Platform No.4, ran to and dived into the middle section of the running train and under the wheels.
The train dragged Praden’s body which was cut in half for about 100 metres before stopping. A red shoulder bag was found near his body.
Pol Lt Aussadawut said the man was from Surat Thani’s Kanchanadit district. He was checking footage from CCTV cameras and would talk to Praden’s relatives to try to find out the reason for the apparent suicide.
