Routine check finds King's health is normal

His Majesty the King was admitted to Siriraj Hospital on Sunday to undergo a scheduled medical check-up which required special equipment, after which the Royal Household Bureau announced in a statement that his physical health was normal.

A computerised X-ray examination was performed on His Majesty's brain in order to monitor the results from the insertion of a tube to drain excess cerebrospinal fluid carried out since May 2, 2011.

The royal physicians will use the examination results to control His Majesty's cerebrospinal fluid drainage in the future.

A similar examination performed to monitor lung inflammation which the King was diagnosed with in 2009 and 2013 showed his lungs and heart were functioning normally. The King's temperature, breathing and blood pressure were normal.

The royal physicians will continue to administer physical therapy to His Majesty so that he can regain some strength.

Their Majesties the King and Queen returned to Klai Kangwon Palace in Prachuap Khiri Khan on May 10 for a change of atmosphere and to recuperate at the Hua Hin palace.

The King, who has spent most of his time at the hospital since admission in September, 2009, returned to the hospital on Sunday as doctors needed to perform medical examinations which require special equipment, according to the announcement.
