TRANG — A 59-year-old woman was badly injured on Monday afternoon after she parked her motorcycle near a railway track and was sucked to the side of a moving train.

The incident occurred when the No. 168 rapid train bound for Kantang district of Trang was passing a railway crossing with no barrier on Pard Khlong Nam Jed Road in Trang municipality.

Witnesses said Wannatanee Tokarnka, a local egg vendor at a municipal market, was parking her motorcycle close to the track when the train came and sucked her and the bike to hit one of its wagons, police quoted witnesses a saying.

She was wearing a crash helmet but still sustained severe head injuries.

It was raining at that time. The train driver honked to alert motorists while approaching the unguarded crossing where traffic was busy and crashes involving vehicles and commuter trains occur frequently.

Witnesses said Mrs Wannatanee stopped her motorcycle too close to the moving train while other drivers parked their vehicles at a safe distance.
